Chiang Mai Flower Fair

During the time Map was in Chiang Mai on vacation, it happened that Thai Grandpa also had a meeting there. Thai Grandma decided to follow Thai Grandpa to Chiang Mai to see Map. Map had dinner with Thai grandparents on Christmas Eve. And on Christmas Day, Thai grandparents took Map to Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2011 fair.

But before we went to the flower fair, Thai grandparents took Map to the King's 80th birthday commemorative garden to view tulips.

After the tulip garden, we went to the flower fair. The flower fair - Royal Flora Rachaphruek - was a big deal. Everybody in Chiang Mai asked us whether we would go to the flower fair. And apparently, a lot of Thais all over the country came to Chiang Mai for this fair.

The fair was humongous - 80 hectares. It was impossible to go around the entire fair on foot - have to go by tram or by golf cart. We splurged by going by golf cart with the driver provided. This way, we could stop whenever we wanted.

We had northern local food at the northern Thai section of the fair. Map ate sticky rice and grilled egg there.
