Map's first Japanese BBQ

This morning, Map woke up later than usual - at 9:30am - because yesterday was an activitiy-filled day - playdate with Myra in the morning and Daddy's company's dinner at La Villa in the evening.

For Sunday dinner, Daddy, Mommy and Map were invited by Daddy's friend - Brian Kim - to Japanese BBQ/Robatayaki at Akanoya restaurant at Orchard Parade Hotel. Brian has a 28 month-old son - Su Wei - whom Map has met before.

The concept of Robatayaki is that all raw/fresh items are displayed in front of the customers. The customers point what they want to order and then the chefs grill the food right then and there for the customers to see. We had grilled sweet potato, fish, snow crab leg, mushroom, Wagyu beef, scallop, chicken, chicken wing and garlic fried rice. Of course, Map couldn't eat all that - only grilled sweet potato, fish and garlic fried rice. It was so much fun there - with waiters yelling after one other on the orders. And the chefs grill the food on the spot and hand out on long wooden paddle. Everything was so fresh and tasty. But Map had the most fun playing with Su Wei.
